Hi all.
We're in the painfull process of deploying Avaya's Modular Messaging for Domino solution, which is based on Domino Unified Communications (DUC) from IBM.
Avaya's MM is unstable and unreliable: degraded audio quality, volume going up and down, message indicator randomly failing, no real user administration tool, security model based on Active Directory (really!).
DUC software is no better: DUC client needs to be deployed on each user PC, DUC applet resets sound volume on each run and fails to run in iNotes, Notes extension fails to shut down properly on exit, server component fails to process its adminp requests, half-baked mail template changes (breaks iNotes on setup), ...
Not to mention the myriad installation issues we went over, incorrect step-by-step documentation, and so on.
Now what I'm wondering is, should we consider we've been sold a dead solution, now that I see:
1) how totally flawed this product is
2) that Avaya has one and a half people supporting this product throughout Europe
2) that IBM dropped DUC support over to Cisco and Avaya
3) that IBM seems to be focusing its telephony efforts on Sametime Unified Telephony
Or is someone somewhere in the work REALLY using it ?
